Come for the Swim. Stay for the People.

Our Story

Who We Are

The Port Beach Polar Bears are a community ocean swimming group based at Port Beach, Fremantle. We’re a welcoming, no-fuss group built around routine, connection, and a shared love of the ocean.

We meet each morning from approximately 6:00am in summer and 6:30am in winter, swimming year-round at our own pace before gathering for a tea, a chat, and a laugh.

Our purpose is to promote health, wellbeing, and social connection through daily ocean swimming, while preserving the club’s community culture and coastal environment for future generations.

Come for the swim. Stay for the people.

The Port Beach Polar Bears Inc. is an incorporated volunteer-run club operating under the Model Rules of the Associations Incorporation Act 2015 (WA) and has an agreement with the Fremantle Surf Life Saving club who we share the Annex building at Port Beach.

The Port Beach Polar Bears acknowledge the Whadjuk people of the Nyoongar nation as the Traditional Owners of the lands and waters at Port Beach, where we gather, swim and connect as a community. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.
